Fun & Creative Play-Based Curriculum
For more than 24 years, over 200 extremely qualified childcare professionals contributed to the construction of this play-based curriculum. That’s a lot of love! The flexibility, ease of use and researched methods allow every child to learn, grow and thrive. No two children progress alike and their needs should be met individually. Our curriculum is designed to accomodate a variety of learning styles to ensure each child succeeds. "Funny Daffers" provide a very large platform from which to build a comprehensive approach to delivering curriculum. All of the lesson plans are designed to let children discover, invent, pretend and challenge themselves. The Funnydaffer curriculum has been assessed by many childcare professionals and is approved in states across the nation. Our curriculum addresses all of the developmental and learning objectives each child needs. Plus, it is really fun!
Music & Arts
At Glo Learning Adventure, your child will learn the foundations of music. The music program teaches the child musical notes, time, and rhythm. At GLO we have partner with a program called Prodigies; Prodigies is a program for kids, that provides pitch development activities, games, songs & lessons during their formative childhood years. This allows young kids (before age 8) to develop the amazing skill of perfect pitch. They use very fine tune bells that train the child's ear, and teaches them note recognition.
In addition, we will have music teachers coming in to expose GLO children to instruments like guitar, piano, and violin. On the other hand, our creative art lessons include drama, dance, music, poetry, pottery, painting, etc.
Gardening
Planting and gardening with preschoolers allow them to explore the natural world through hands-on activities and develop all areas of their growing minds and bodies. Some skills children develop by gardening are the following:
● Grasping: gardening allows the child to learn fine and gross motor skills and explore the world through handfuls of dirt.
● Balance: Gardens are built with pathways to minimize or maximize the growing space. Moving through these tight rows helps the child learn balance, especially in tight spaces where the plants have overgrown their path.
● Healthy Eating: It also creates healthy eating habits as children are more prone to eat what they have helped grow and become more familiar with different kinds of fruits and vegetables.
● Therapeutic: gardening is a natural way to release anxiety and stress.
Language
Curriculum Expansion
Spanish Lessons
Language learning for young children improves cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Improving your child's capacities in these three areas can contribute to academic success. "Between the ages of 0-3, the brains of young children are uniquely suited to learn a second language as the brain is in its most flexible stage. In fact, bilingually exposed infants excelled in detecting a switch in language as early as six months old" (Tracy Trautner, 2019). Some benefits are that learning a second language does not negatively affect the child's first language, and the child can learn a second language as quickly as they learn to walk. At GLO, we understand the benefits of language immersion; therefore, we have added daily Spanish lessons to our curriculums.
Emotional Awareness Play
As part of our curriculum, we will implement activities to help the children learn to be aware of their emotions. They will explore healthy ways to deal with big emotions such as fear and anger, sadness, anxiety, etc. Through play, we will teach the children how to self-regulate when they feel overwhelmed or get caught up by emotions, not knowing how to respond to their feelings and the world around them. Emotional awareness play is also a great way to promote healthy mental health, self-awareness, and mindfulness. A licensed mental health therapist thats works mainly with children will be conducting these activities with the children.
Sports
GLO allows children to explore sports like soccer, basketball, and t-ball. Sports have many benefits for children. These benefits include having daily playtime in our outdoor play area and indoor gym on cooler days or rainy days.
